The third annual Workshop for Legal Scholars in Health Sciences (AKA WEIRDOS) will be held on June 3rd, 2025, in Boston, MA. This Workshop aims to provide a community and support development in health science campuses (medicine, public health, etc.) for all career stages. The workshop includes an opportunity for five scholars and researchers to present and gain feedback on a paper or research proposal that is “in progress.” Each junior scholar will have one hour to meet and discuss their work with a small group of other scholars and a senior-scholar moderator.
Eligible projects can include a manuscript that is currently under development or a research idea/proposal. This includes projects that are in the early stages or further developed.
Junior scholars include:
- assistant level faculty or research scientist who has held an academic position at their current institution for less than 3 years,
- post-doctorate scholars or fellows, or
- graduate students.
While not a requirement, the committee will give preference to candidates who are developing a career in health science campuses. Selected scholars will receive a travel scholarship to present at the workshop (held on June 3rd) and attend the ASLME Health Law Professors Conference (June 4-6). This includes airfare and hotel.
If you would like to apply to present at the Works-in-Progress, please submit your project proposal through this link here no later than February 20th. The committee with review applications and inform applicants of results by March 15th.
Please note – if you would like to submit to the ASLME Health Law Professors Conference held June 3-5, please submit an abstract here by January 31, 2025.
