Defining the Future of Health Law: In Honor of Charity Scott

On February 15-16, 2024, Georgia State University College of Law and the American Society of Law, Medicine & Ethics hosted the symposium “Defining the Future of Health Law.” The symposium was held in honor of our dear friend Charity Scott, who passed away in 2023 and was an incredibly important figure in the formation of health law as a field and the rise of George State Law’s health law program as the highest-rated program in the nation.

Aside from being a beloved professor of law at GSU, Charity was the founding editor of the “Teaching Health Law” column in JLME, as well as an author, editor, and guest editor for JLME and a board member and President of ASLME. She was deeply loved by everyone at ASLME.

ASLME President Sidney Watson, former ASLME President Diane Hoffmann and ASLME board member Ross Silverman all spoke at the symposium, sharing their memories of Charity with many other distinguished guests.

The papers from the symposium will be published in the Summer 2024 issue of JLME, in memory of our friend Charity Scott.
